Socratic Ideas is delighted to present John Waters, “a star of AS/A2 teaching” (Times Educational Supplement) who leads a highly successful Religious Ethics and Philosophy department with over 200 GCSE students and 80 AS/A2 students.
John is co-editor of the Sixth Form journal Dialogue, an experienced GCSE and A level examiner, a regular contributor to Teaching Think!ng, and for the past 10 years he has delivered training to over a thousand A level teachers on Ethics and Philosophy of Religion.

Having been awarded the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) in 2008 John’s current educational interests include Assessment for Learning, Thinking Skills, S.E.A.L. and The Gentle Art of Evaluation for 14-18 year olds.

John Waters was nominated for Teacher of the Year Award 2007. His latest departmental A2 results were 100% A-B (70% A grades); at GCSE 98% A*-A, (83% A*).
